Scott Hastings is a successful freelance broadcaster and commentator with Sky Sports, ITV, STV, and BBC covering all of the principal rugby events worldwide. Scott’s media coverage includes the 6 Nations Championship, The Rugby World Cup, The Commonwealth Games, World Rugby HSBC Sevens World Series, The European Champions Cup and The Guinness Pro 12.
A former Scottish Internationalist and Captain of the Scotland Sevens team, Scott retired from the game in 1997 to focus entirely on his burgeoning media career.
Complementary to his TV work, Scott teamed-up with older brother and fellow internationalist, Gavin, in a sports’ hospitality and sponsorship initiative, Hastings’ International (now named Hi Events Ltd) [embedded link to the “Hi” page on this site and/or to the planned bespoke Hi website], attracting such prestigious clients as BT, who were sufficiently convinced by Hi’s professionalism that they provided sponsorship to Scottish Rugby for seven successful years.
In addition to Scott’s broadcasting and corporate hospitality commitments, he still makes time to undertake public speaking engagements at sports and charitable events and give motivational talks on leadership and teamwork to major corporate organisations throughout the country.
Scott is a dynamic public speaker and undertakes numerous speaking engagements and motivational seminars for blue chip companies, conferences and event organisers.
His main focus of his seminars focusses on how to create winning teams in sport and business. From communication to planning, Scott presents a compelling case on how we all react under different pressures within the workplace.
“I first picked-up a rugby ball when I was just 7 years old. Growing up in a family of 4 boys, sport was part and parcel of my childhood and it’s where I derived such pleasure for being involved in sport and physical activity."
