Scott joined his elder brother Gavin’s sports and sponsorship business (Hi) soon after its inauguration in 1995. In his capacity as Sport and Sponsorship Director, Scott looked after BT’s successful seven-year sponsorship of Scottish Rugby. In recognition of their outstanding contribution to sport and the community, BT and Hi were awarded a Sports’ Industry award in 2004. In 2007, Hastings International was absorbed by the Irish-based sports consultancy business, Platinum One. In his sponsorship role with the new company, Scott was one of the team responsible for persuading the mighty Barcelona Football Club to visit Scotland for two pre-season tours in 2008 and 2009. The match between Barcelona and Heart of Midlothian FC attracted an amazing 58,000 football fans to witness the spectacle, played out at Murrayfield, ironically, the home of Scottish rugby. In 2010, brothers Hastings parted company with Platinum One to set up a new initiative, Hi Events. This new business continues to operate successfully in the rugby and golf markets, with Scott and Gavin annually hosting their own bespoke hospitality facility, the “6 Nations’ Clubhouse” during the 6 Nations’ rugby championship.
